When receiving Ulthera and Thermage together, how should scheduling and aftercare be handled?

When receiving Ulthera and Thermage together, there is no fixed order; the schedule is set based on the treatment area, skin reaction, and previous treatment history, and after treatment you follow whichever of the two aftercare guidelines specifies the longer period.
Often called "Ulthermage," this combination involves receiving Ulthera, a focused ultrasound device, and Thermage FLX, a radiofrequency device, within a single plan. Because the two devices address different concerns, we first check whether you have both deep sagging and loss of elasticity. Receiving them together does not necessarily mean doubled results.
The role of each device
- Ulthera: Using focused ultrasound, it creates small thermal coagulation points at set depths in the dermis and the fascia (SMAS) layer. It is used for sagging in deeper layers, such as along the jawline and cheeks.
- Thermage FLX: Using monopolar radiofrequency, it generates heat in the dermis while cooling protects the epidermis. It is used for loss of skin elasticity and fine lines.
- When they are combined: They are combined into one plan when deep sagging and loss of elasticity occur together, or when you want to address sagging areas and fine-line areas separately.

How the schedule is decided
Having both on the same day
Everything is completed in a single visit, making scheduling easy. However, swelling and redness from both treatments may appear at the same time, so please let us know in advance if you have an important event within the next few days. Which treatment comes first is chosen based on the area and how much the heat from the two devices overlaps.
Having them on separate days
After checking your skin's reaction to the first treatment, you receive the next one. This approach suits those with sensitive skin, those who reacted strongly to previous treatments, and those who prefer to spread out the days when swelling may occur. The interval between the two treatments is set after confirming that redness and swelling have subsided.
Interval until the next session
- Ulthera: typically every 6 months to 1 year
- Thermage FLX: about once a year
- 1200-shot option: Ultherapy Prime 1200 shots and Thermage FLX 1200 shots can be divided across 2 sessions.
Options and Procedure Order
Ulthermage is offered in the three options below.
- Thermage FLX 300 shots and Ultherapy Prime 300 shots
- Ultherapy Prime 300 shots and Thermage FLX 600 shots
- Ultherapy Prime 600 shots and Thermage FLX 600 shots
Thermage FLX proceeds in this order: personalized consultation, pre-treatment photos, numbing cream (about 30~60 minutes), treatment, and soothing care. Ulthera proceeds with personalized consultation, self-cleansing, numbing cream, treatment, and finishing care, taking about 1 hour in total, and you can return to your daily routine right afterward.

- Do not rub or press hard on the treated area.
- Take antioxidants such as vitamin C.
- Changes appear gradually over 1~2 months with Ulthera and 2~4 months with Thermage FLX, so we monitor your progress during that time.
After Ulthera, throbbing, slight swelling, bruising, and redness may occur for a few days; after Thermage FLX, redness and swelling may occur. In rare cases, white line marks (white stripes) may appear after Ulthera, and burns with blisters may occur after Thermage FLX. If you notice these symptoms or numbness persists, please contact us right away. Please let us know before treatment if you have an implanted electrical device such as a pacemaker, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have any medications you are taking, allergies, or a tendency toward keloids.
