Is Ulthera right for my face? What should I check before a consultation?
Whether Ulthera is suitable is assessed by which layer the sagging originates in, your skin thickness and facial fat volume, and what changes you expect and by when.
Ulthera is an ultrasound lifting device used for sagging that originates in the deeper layers. Even if the sagging looks the same on the surface, if the cause is fat or fine lines, we first compare other treatments. Knowing in advance that changes appear gradually over 1–2 months also makes scheduling easier.
Why it is used for deep sagging
- Set depths: Depending on the tip, the focus is set at depths of 1.5mm, 3.0mm, or 4.5mm, targeting the dermis and the fascia (SMAS) layer.
- Dot-shaped heat: Small thermal coagulation points form where the focus lands. The skin surface is barely affected, and heat is delivered only to the deeper tissue.
- Changes that appear over time: Tissue that has received heat changes over time. Retreatment is usually scheduled at intervals of 6 months to 1 year.

How to read shot options
The number of shots is a unit that counts how much energy is delivered. The amount needed varies with facial area, the areas of sagging, and skin thickness.
- Distribution by area: Even with the same number of shots, check how many shots are allocated to each area.
- Tip depth: See which tip depth is used for each area.
- Included care: Check whether care such as LED is included in the option.
- Splitting sessions: Check whether a high-shot option is used all at once or split. 1200 shots can be split across 2 sessions.
What to prepare before your consultation
- Which area bothers you most: the jawline, cheeks, or eyebrows
- The type and timing of any previous lifting, filler, or thread lifting
- Medications you take, allergies, and whether you are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Any important events scheduled in the near future
- Whether authenticity can be verified via the device's NFC chip and the tip's QR code
On the day of treatment and afterward
At our Suwon clinic, the process runs in the order of Personalized Consultation, Self-Cleansing, Numbing Cream, treatment, and Finishing Care, taking about 1 hour in total. You can return to daily activities right after treatment.
- A few days after treatment: You may experience throbbing, slight swelling, bruising, or redness, which is mostly temporary.
- For 1 week: Avoiding saunas, alcohol, peels, and scrub products can help reduce skin irritation.
- Contact us right away if: Rarely, marks that look like white lines (white striping) may appear. If you notice white line marks, if swelling and pain worsen day by day, or if numbness persists, please contact us right away.
Please let us know before treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, are prone to keloids, have an autoimmune disease, or have metal implants or inflammation in the treatment area.
