Ulthera intervals: how many months should you wait before your next session?

Ulthera intervals: how many months should you wait before your next session?

The Ulthera interval is usually set between 6 months and 1 year, based on how much of the change from the previous treatment remains. Because changes appear gradually over 1 to 2 months after treatment, we schedule the next date after the changes have settled rather than repeating it before then.

Why is the Ulthera interval set at 6 months to 1 year?

Ulthera focuses high-intensity focused ultrasound on the fascia layer and deep dermis to create small thermal coagulation points, prompting collagen to contract and regenerate in those spots. Because this process unfolds over weeks to months, there is a gap between when the change is most noticeable and when it begins to loosen again.

If energy is delivered to the same layer again before the changes have settled, heat overlaps on tissue that is still recovering. That is why, rather than frequent treatments at short intervals, we confirm the results of the previous treatment before planning the next one.

When the Ulthera interval becomes shorter or longer

For faces with advanced sagging, thin skin that loses elasticity quickly, or during periods of significant weight change, the changes may start to loosen sooner, so the interval may be set closer to 6 months. If sagging is mild and the treatment is for prevention, the interval tends to be around 1 year.

Lifestyle habits that reduce collagen, such as sun exposure, smoking, and lack of sleep, also affect the interval. Even for the same person, age and skin condition change from year to year, so rather than repeating the last interval, we reassess your condition each time.

How is the next Ulthera date decided?

At our Suwon clinic, we usually recommend Ulthera at intervals of 6 months to 1 year. Before the next treatment, we recheck the degree of sagging along the jawline and cheeks and decide the number of shots and areas based on your condition at that time.

For a few days after treatment, you may have throbbing, slight swelling, and bruising. In rare cases, if white line-shaped marks appear on the skin, please contact the clinic.

FAQ

Q. Can I get Ulthera again after just 3 months?

A. With Ulthera, changes appear over 1 to 2 months after treatment, so at 3 months the results of the previous treatment may still be ongoing. Whether to repeat it is decided after examining the remaining change, the degree of sagging, and how your skin reacted after the last treatment.

Q. Can I get other lifting treatments between Ulthera sessions?

A. Between Ulthera sessions, we sometimes add radiofrequency lifting that targets the dermis or skin boosters that target skin texture. We set the interval and order so that heat does not overlap in the same layer, and proceed after confirming that swelling and skin reactions from the previous treatment have subsided.

Q. Do the Ulthera interval and number of shots change together?

A. If the sagging covers a wide area or the skin is thick, the number of shots needed may increase even at the same interval. The interval is based on how much change from the previous treatment remains, while the number of shots is based on the areas and size to be treated this time, so we consider the two separately.
