Thread lift results: what changes right after and a few weeks later?

Thread lift results appear in two stages. Right after treatment, you can see the change as the thread's barbs hold and lift sagging tissue, and over weeks to months, the change continues as the thread dissolves and collagen forms around it, altering skin firmness. Since the look right after treatment includes swelling and tightness, compare before and after based on your condition 2 to 4 weeks later.
What changes right after a thread lift?
A thread lift places dissolvable threads under the skin, and the barbs or sawtooth-like structures on the threads hold the tissue of sagging cheeks and the jawline and secure it upward. Unlike device-based lifting, a change in which sagging along the jawline and beside the mouth is pulled up may appear right after the procedure.
However, for the first few days there is swelling, bruising, and a tight feeling, and while the threads settle, the area around the mouth or in front of the ears may look slightly bumpy or dimpled. These usually resolve within 1 to 2 weeks as the swelling goes down and the tissue settles.
How do thread lift results change a few weeks later?
When the threads begin to dissolve, the body responds by producing new collagen around them, making the skin firmer. This change appears gradually over weeks to months and is closer to a change in skin texture and firmness.
The lift seen right after treatment gradually decreases as the threads dissolve, and collagen changes take over in its place. For faces with deep sagging, there is a limit to how much threads alone can lift, so the degree of change and recovery vary from person to person.
What to follow for thread lift results
At our Suwon clinic, we assess facial sagging and skin condition in a one-on-one consultation, design the thread type and placement, and then perform the thread lift after numbing cream and local anesthesia.
For 2 to 3 days after the procedure, avoid exaggerated facial expressions such as laughing widely or yawning for a long time, and avoid pressure on the treated area such as massage, meridian massage, or sleeping face down. For a week, refrain from strenuous exercise, saunas, drinking, and smoking. Please contact the clinic if pain keeps getting worse, if warmth and redness persist, or if you can feel a thread or a dented area remains on the skin.

FAQ
Q. When is a good time to compare before and after a thread lift?
A. The look right after treatment includes swelling and tightness, so it may appear more lifted than it really is or uneven. Taking photos at the same angle and lighting 2 to 4 weeks later, when the swelling has gone down, and comparing them helps with assessment.
Q. What should I do if the lift seems to have decreased a few weeks after a thread lift?
A. It is common for the tautness right after treatment to seem reduced as the swelling goes down, and the remaining change is assessed 2 to 4 weeks later. If only one side has noticeably dropped or the difference between the left and right sides has grown, a thread may have shifted, so get an examination and decide on the next step.
Q. How do thread lift results differ from device-based lifting?
A. With a thread lift, the threads hold and lift tissue directly, so you can see a change right away, while ultrasound or radiofrequency lifting uses heat to induce collagen changes that appear gradually over several weeks. Depending on the degree of sagging, the two are sometimes planned together.
