What happens with each shot of Thermage FLX? How it works and the treatment process

With each shot, the Thermage FLX tip cools the skin surface and then evenly generates radiofrequency heat in the collagen-rich layer beneath, repeating this process.

Heated existing collagen contracts, and the process of producing new collagen begins. It is a radiofrequency lifting device from Solta Medical approved by the U.S. FDA, and its larger tip area compared with the previous generation has shortened treatment time.

How radiofrequency tightens collagen

Skin firmness comes from the support provided by collagen in the dermis. With aging and prolonged UV exposure, collagen decreases and loosens, leading to fine lines and sagging.

  1. Surface cooling: When the tip touches the skin, it first cools the surface with a cold sensation.
  2. Radiofrequency heating: Radiofrequency energy evenly heats the collagen-rich layer beneath the surface.
  3. Collagen contraction: Heated existing collagen contracts, and the process of producing new collagen begins.
  4. Regeneration: Over time, collagen is rebuilt and changes appear gradually.

The components that make up each shot

  • Cooling: Each shot cools the skin surface to protect it and reduce discomfort.
  • AccuREP energy control: Energy is automatically adjusted to your skin and delivered consistently.
  • Vibration: The handpiece vibrates to help ease discomfort during treatment.
  • Single-use tip: Once the set number of shots has been used, the tip cannot be reused. The shot count refers to the number of times the tip delivers radiofrequency energy.

What to expect from Thermage FLX

  • Overall facial firmness: As collagen in the dermis is regenerated, it helps restore skin elasticity. Right after treatment, you will first notice a tightening sensation.
  • Jawline and pores: As the skin tightens, a blurred jawline and stretched pores are addressed together.
  • Fine lines: As loosened collagen tightens, it helps soften fine lines.
