When do Shurink results appear in Suwon, and how do changes right after differ from those a few weeks later?

If your face felt tight right after Shurink but seemed to go back to how it was after about 2 weeks and you were disappointed, it is worth first separating when Shurink results appear. Shurink Universe is a lifting device that focuses high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) at set depths within the skin to create small thermal coagulation points.
Shurink results divide into the tightness right after, when heated tissue contracts immediately, and changes that build up over several weeks as new collagen forms afterward. At our Suwon clinic, during consultation we first look at the direction of sagging in the jawline and cheeks, skin thickness, and the amount of fat, then decide on the handpiece, shot distribution, and number of sessions.
In this article, we outline in order how Shurink Universe works, when results show, the treatment cycle and process, recovery and care, and side effects.
Shurink results: key points
- Shurink Universe works by focusing ultrasound energy on the fascial layer (SMAS) and the dermis to create thermal coagulation points.
- The tightness right after is a temporary contraction, and collagen changes build up slowly from a few weeks later.
- As a guideline, we recommend at least 3 to 5 sessions at 1-month intervals, and results last about 3 to 6 months.
- Changes are easier to judge by comparing with pre-treatment photos under the same lighting than by looking in the mirror every day.
How does Shurink Universe work?
Ultrasound energy passes through the skin surface and is focused at set depths in the dermis and the fascial layer (SMAS). The tissue at those points coagulates and contracts from the heat, and as the body repairs these spots, new collagen and elastin are formed.
Shurink Universe uses Ultra F, which delivers energy in continuous lines, together with Ultra Booster, a round pen-type handpiece. Broad surfaces are treated densely with Ultra F, and narrow, curved areas such as the nasolabial folds, around the eyes, and the cheekbones are treated with Ultra Booster in close contact.
Contraction of the fascial layer happens right away, but new collagen takes time to build up. Because of this time gap, it is hard to judge the result based only on how you look right after treatment.
When do Shurink results start to show?
| Period | What happens in the skin | What to look for |
|---|---|---|
| Right after treatment to a few days | Heated tissue contracts temporarily | A tight feeling, warmth, and mild swelling |
| Around 1 to 2 weeks | Swelling goes down and the thermal coagulation points enter the healing process | The tightness from right after eases, so it looks closer to the original |
| Around 4 to 8 weeks | New collagen forms and begins to build up | We start looking at changes in the elasticity of the jawline and cheeks |
| Around 2 to 3 months | Collagen regeneration continues | Compare with pre-treatment photos under the same lighting |
Feeling that the effect has disappeared around 2 weeks is because the tightness and swelling from right after have gone down, and collagen changes continue after that. When and how much you notice varies by person depending on skin thickness, the degree of sagging, and fat distribution. Small changes are hard to notice in a face you see every day, so comparing with pre-treatment photos taken from the same angle is more accurate.

How is Shurink performed?
How the treatment cycle and shot distribution are decided
Shurink Universe builds up energy at moderate intensity over several sessions rather than concentrating strong energy all at once. Time is needed for the thermal coagulation points from the previous session to heal and for collagen to form, so repeating at short intervals such as one week can cause heat to build up again in the same spot before healing is complete, which may prolong swelling and pain. If the skin is thin or there is little cheek fat, we plan with reduced energy and shot distribution so the cheeks do not look hollow.
Treatment steps at our Suwon clinic

Recovery and care after Shurink
- You can wash your face and wear makeup right after the treatment; use a gentle cleanser.
- To reduce skin irritation, wash your face with lukewarm water for 3 days after the treatment.
- Dryness may occur, so apply moisturizer often and wear sunscreen when going out.
- For about 7 days after the treatment, avoid heavy drinking, saunas and jjimjilbang, hot baths, and strenuous exercise.
- After the treatment, we recommend taking antioxidants such as vitamin C.
Areas close to bone, such as the jawline, may feel achy when pressed for a few days. Keeping up sun protection and moisturizing during the weeks when collagen forms can help as you watch the changes, and once the course is finished, the interval for maintenance treatments is set when you notice sagging again.
Shurink side effects and precautions
Right after the treatment, heat, a stinging sensation, swelling, redness, a burning feeling, dryness, and itching may occur, but they soon subside. During the treatment, pain may be felt more in areas close to bone, and the degree of reaction and speed of recovery vary from person to person.
Rarely, bruising, line-shaped marks on the skin surface, or temporary numbness or tingling may occur, and most recover over time. Those with little facial fat may find their cheeks look hollow, so an assessment beforehand is needed, and if you have a chronic condition or have had fillers or thread procedures, please tell us in advance during the consultation. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have an implanted electronic device such as a pacemaker or a metal implant, please let us know before the treatment.
If blisters form, numbness lasts a long time, or the pain gets worse day by day, please contact the clinic right away.
What should I check before Shurink?
If these apply to you, start with an examination of sagging
- My jawline has blurred and my cheeks feel like they have dropped.
- I had Shurink before and felt there was no change after about 2 weeks.
- My cheeks are naturally thin or tend to look hollow.
- Thick fat can be pinched under my chin or in my cheeks.
If two or more apply, before deciding the number of shots, it is best to first check the direction of sagging, skin thickness, and the amount of fat. Whether to proceed, the method, and the scope are decided together in consultation after the medical team examines you.
In short, the key with Shurink results is to look separately at the tightness right after and the collagen changes a few weeks later, build up sessions at 1-month intervals, and compare under the same conditions.
FAQ
Q. Are Shurink results visible right after treatment?
A. Right after, tissue contracts from the heat and you may feel a tightness, but it lessens over time along with the swelling. Changes from collagen build up from a few weeks later, so at that point we look at them by comparing with pre-treatment photos.
Q. How long do Shurink results last?
A. We describe it as a course at 1-month intervals followed by results that last about 3 to 6 months. It varies by person depending on skin thickness, degree of sagging, and lifestyle, so the interval for maintenance treatments is decided in consultation when you notice sagging again.
Q. Can I get Shurink at one-week intervals?
A. Time is needed for the thermal coagulation points to heal and for collagen to form, so we use 1-month intervals as the guideline. Repeating at short intervals can cause heat to build up again in the same spot before healing is complete, which may prolong swelling and pain, so it is best to keep to the interval.
Q. Does a higher number of Shurink shots mean a bigger change?
A. Rather than the number of shots, what affects the result is the depth and how they are distributed across areas. We decide the number of shots for each handpiece during the examination based on facial area, sagging areas, skin thickness, and the amount of fat, and we prioritize even distribution over simply using more.
Q. In what cases might Shurink results be hard to notice?
A. If the skin is very thin or the fat in the cheeks and jawline is thick, you may notice changes more slowly. In that case, we look again at the cause of sagging and review in consultation whether to also use a fat-targeting treatment or radiofrequency lifting, and the method is decided after the medical team examines you.
Q. How can I find out the cost of Shurink?
A. The cost depends on the number of shots, area, and number of sessions. We guide you after confirming in consultation which range, the whole face or the eye area, will be treated with how many shots, and you can also check the items by treatment area on the treatment information page.
