Rejuran bruising: why does it happen, and how many days until it fades?

Rejuran bruising: why does it happen, and how many days until it fades?

Rejuran bruising is blood that leaks out and pools when the fine needle touches small blood vessels under the skin, and most bruises fade within one to two weeks. Because the treatment involves many injections, it is not unusual for a few small bruises to form, and in areas with thin skin such as around the eyes, bruising and swelling are more noticeable. Blood-thinning medications or alcohol can make bruises larger.

Why does Rejuran bruising happen?

Rejuran is injected many times across the whole face to deliver small portions of the product into the dermis. Fine blood vessels that are hard to see run densely under the skin, and when the needle touches one, a little blood leaks out and becomes a bruise.

Even with the same treatment, bruises form more easily in people with thin skin where blood vessels show through, people taking medications or supplements that affect blood clotting such as aspirin or omega-3, and people who drink alcohol before or after treatment.

How many days do Rejuran bruising and swelling last?

  • A bruise that forms right after treatment looks red or purplish, then turns green and yellow over several days.
  • Most fade within one to two weeks, and small ones disappear even sooner.
  • Swelling is most noticeable on the day of treatment and the next day, and it settles over several days.
  • With Rejuran I, the skin around the eyes is thin, so swelling may be more prominent in the morning.

At FACE FILTER Clinic Suwon, we explain that bruising or swelling may occur after Rejuran depending on your skin condition, and that it mostly eases within one to two weeks.

Care to reduce Rejuran bruising and precautions

Cut back on alcohol for a few days before treatment, and let us know in advance about any medications and supplements you take. Applying a light cold compress on the first day after treatment may help reduce the spread of swelling and bruising, and for 3 to 7 days avoid saunas and jjimjilbang (Korean spas), hot baths, and strenuous exercise. Do not rub or massage the treated area hard.

If a bruise keeps getting larger or swells up firmly, or if pain and warmth become severe, please contact the clinic. If you have a condition that affects blood clotting, please be sure to let us know before treatment.

FAQ

Q. Is there a way to make Rejuran bruising fade faster?

A. On the first day, a light cold compress can reduce the spread of the bruise, and after 2 to 3 days, a lukewarm compress can help the pooled blood be absorbed. When covering it with makeup, be careful not to rub the injection sites hard.

Q. How many days does swelling from Rejuran I last?

A. The skin around the eyes is thin, so swelling is more noticeable; it tends to be most prominent the morning after treatment and then settles over several days. Sleeping with your pillow slightly raised and not rubbing your eyes may help reduce the swelling.

Q. What should I do if Rejuran bruising remains after two weeks?

A. In areas with a large bruise or thin skin, a yellow mark can sometimes remain for more than two weeks. If it does not get smaller, feels firm, and is accompanied by pain, it is best to have it checked at a consultation. In the meantime, do not press hard on the bruised area, and apply sunscreen to prevent pigmentation from remaining.
