Alcohol after Rejuran: how many days should you wait before drinking?

Alcohol after Rejuran: how many days should you wait before drinking?

The guideline for alcohol after Rejuran is to avoid heavy drinking for 3 to 7 days after treatment. Rejuran is injected many times in small portions across the whole face, so if alcohol dilates the blood vessels, bruising and swelling at the injection sites may increase and the embossing may take longer to subside. On the day of treatment and the following day, it is better not to drink even a small amount.

Why should you avoid alcohol after Rejuran?

Rejuran is injected many times in small portions across the face with a fine needle to deliver PN into the dermis. Each injection site leaves a tiny wound, and embossing forms where the product goes in, raising small bumps. Alcohol dilates blood vessels and slows blood clotting, which can cause bruising to spread and swelling to increase at these small wounds.

Drinking can also disrupt the immune response, making inflammation or breakouts more likely at the needle sites. That is why heavy drinking and smoking are both avoided to help prevent inflammation.

Alcohol after Rejuran: what should you do at each stage?

At our Suwon clinic, we advise avoiding heavy drinking, smoking, saunas and jjimjilbang, hot baths, and strenuous exercise for 3 to 7 days after Rejuran treatment. Embossing mostly subsides within 1 to 3 days, so the basic rule is not to drink at all for at least this period and not to drink much until one week has passed.

If bruising has formed, it is better to cut back on alcohol until it fades. Bruising and swelling mostly ease within 1 to 2 weeks. If you already have a drinking occasion planned, one option is to schedule the treatment at least a week before that date.

Care to follow along with avoiding alcohol after Rejuran

You can wash your face and wear makeup 2 to 3 hours after Rejuran Healer, and from the next day after Rejuran HB+. Do not rub or massage the treated area hard, and moisturize and use sun protection thoroughly.

If, after drinking, the injection sites become red and swollen and pus forms, or if swelling and pain get worse day by day, please contact the clinic. If you have a fish allergy, such as to salmon, please let us know before treatment.

FAQ

Q. I had a little alcohol on the day I got Rejuran. Will it be okay?

A. A drink or two rarely causes a serious problem, but bruising and swelling at the injection sites may increase. Do not rub your face, drink plenty of water, take a break from alcohol for the next few days, and watch whether the swelling and bruising subside.

Q. Does drinking alcohol after Rejuran reduce its effect?

A. It is hard to say that alcohol directly cancels the action of PN; the problem is that bruising, swelling, and inflammation become more likely. Frequent heavy drinking and smoking can put a strain on skin recovery, so the guideline is to take a break for one week after treatment.

Q. Should alcohol be avoided the same way after Rejuran HB+?

A. Rejuran HB+ is also injected into the dermis, so the same guideline applies. Avoid heavy drinking, saunas, and strenuous exercise for 3 to 7 days, and start washing your face and wearing makeup from the next day. If embossing and bruising remain, it is better to hold off on alcohol a little longer until they subside.
