Pore injections in Suwon: how do skin botox and skin boosters work on pores?

If the pores on your nose and cheeks are a concern because even makeup cannot cover them, it is worth first checking whether your enlarged-looking pores are caused by sebum or by loss of elasticity. "Pore injection" is a general term for injection treatments that deliver medication or regenerative ingredients into the dermis to address how enlarged the pores look, and typical examples include skin botox and skin boosters.
Skin botox involves injecting diluted botulinum toxin in small portions into the shallow layer of the dermis to reduce sebum secretion and fine muscle tension around the pores, while skin boosters such as Rejuran or Juvelook support dermal regeneration and collagen production to strengthen the support of the pore walls. Either way, these treatments do not reduce the number of pores but address how enlarged they look. At our Suwon clinic, during consultation we first look at pore shape, how oily the skin is, and elasticity, and then decide the type of injection and the interval.
In this article, we go through the causes of enlarged-looking pores, the different actions of each injection, how skin botox works and the treatment process, recovery care, and side effects.
Key points about pore injections
- Pores look enlarged when there is a lot of sebum, when dermal elasticity declines, or when the openings are indented by scars and dead skin cells.
- Skin botox addresses sebum and muscle tension around the pores, while skin boosters support dermal regeneration and collagen production.
- For pores that are wide because of oiliness we focus on skin botox, and for pores that have stretched because of loss of elasticity we focus on skin boosters.
- Skin botox lasts 1 to 2 months on average, while skin boosters are given several times at intervals as we monitor the changes.
Why do pores look enlarged?
When sebum secretion is high, the pore openings are constantly held open by oil, so the pores on the nose and inner cheeks look round and large. As we age, collagen and elasticity in the dermis decrease and the force holding the pores weakens, so the pores take on a teardrop shape that stretches downward.
Pores with remaining acne scars or a buildup of dead skin cells and sebum look enlarged because their openings are indented or clogged. The layer and method addressed with pore injections differ by cause, so we look together at pore shape, how oily the skin is, and whether the pores look smaller when the cheek skin is gently lifted by hand.
How do different types of pore injections work?
Even among pore injections, the ingredients injected and the causes addressed differ. The table below divides the injections used at our Suwon clinic by their action and treatment interval.
| Category | Action | Main cause addressed | Treatment interval |
|---|---|---|---|
| Skin Botox | Reduces sebum secretion and muscle tension around the pores | Pores that are open because of oiliness | Every 2 to 3 months |
| Rejuran Healer | Supports dermal regeneration with PN ingredients | Pores that have stretched because of loss of elasticity | 3 sessions at 3 to 4 week intervals |
| Juvelook | Stimulates collagen production as PDLLA breaks down | Stretched pores and shallow, indented scars | At least 3 sessions, 4 weeks apart |
Skin boosters are not a treatment that shrinks pores immediately after injection; they work by changing the dermis over several weeks so the pores look less stretched. If sebum and elasticity issues are mixed, we plan skin botox and skin boosters together.

How are skin botox pore injections performed?
How skin botox works on pores
Regular botox is injected at muscle depth to reduce the movement of facial expression muscles, whereas skin botox uses the same medication diluted much further and injects very small amounts densely into the shallow layer of the dermis. At this depth, it works to reduce the signals to the sebaceous glands and the fine muscle tension around the pores, addressing shininess and how open the pore openings look.
It is injected shallowly so it does not reach the facial expression muscles, leaving your expressions unchanged while addressing skin texture, fine lines, and sebum together. If the pores are wide and mixed with scars, we sometimes plan a 5-week pore package that combines Potenza, lasers, and skin boosters week by week.
Treatment steps at our Suwon clinic
- Personalized Consultation
- Numbing Cream
- Design
- Disinfection
- Treatment
Numbing cream is applied for about 20 to 40 minutes, the treatment takes about 10 minutes, and you can return to daily life right away. It lasts 1 to 2 months on average depending on how much you use your facial expressions and your lifestyle habits, so to maintain the results we advise repeat injections every 2 to 3 months as a guideline. Rejuran Healer is offered in 2cc units and Juvelook in 1-vial units, each available as a single session or a set of 3 sessions.

Recovery and care after pore injections
- After skin botox and Rejuran Healer, you can wash your face and wear makeup starting 2 to 3 hours later.
- For 3–7 days after treatment, avoid heavy drinking, smoking, saunas and jjimjilbang, hot baths, and strenuous exercise.
- Do not rub the treated area hard, and avoid strong massages or meridian massage for one month.
- Apply moisturizer often, and apply sunscreen when you go out.
The bumpy marks that rise at pore injection sites subside within 2 to 3 hours for skin botox and mostly within 1 to 3 days for Rejuran Healer. Changes from skin boosters are monitored over successive sessions, and since pore condition varies with sebum secretion and lifestyle habits, it is best to keep up with cleansing and moisturizing as well.
Side effects and precautions for pore injections
Injection marks, redness, mild swelling, and bruising are common, and bruising and swelling from Rejuran Healer mostly subside within 1 to 2 weeks. The degree and duration of these reactions vary from person to person.
In rare cases, if skin botox reaches an unintended muscle, your expression may look unnatural when you smile, and small lumps may be felt at skin booster sites or an allergic reaction may occur. Rubbing or massaging the injection sites hard right after treatment increases these risks. Please let us know before treatment if you have severe acne inflammation in the treatment area, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or are allergic to fish or specific ingredients.
If the injection site becomes increasingly red, swollen, and warm, if you see pus, or if you have difficulty breathing, please contact the clinic right away.
What do we check before pore injections?
In these cases, start by checking your pore type
- My nose and inner cheeks get shiny easily, and my pores look round and open.
- The pores on my cheeks look like teardrops stretching downward.
- When I lift my cheek skin by hand, my pores look smaller.
- I have both acne scars and enlarged pores.
If two or more of these apply, it is best to first check whether your pores are the sebum type or the elasticity type, and whether scars are mixed in, before choosing a pore injection. Whether to proceed, the method, and the scope of treatment are decided together during consultation after an examination by our medical staff.
In short, the key to pore injections is to first identify why the pores look enlarged and then continue with the injection that matches the cause at the appropriate intervals.
FAQ
Q. Do pore injections hurt a lot?
A. Because a small needle is used for multiple injections, there is a stinging sensation, but we apply numbing cream for about 20 to 40 minutes beforehand to ease the discomfort. How much pain you feel varies by area and individual, and sensitive areas such as around the nose may feel a little more.
Q. Do pore injections work after just one session?
A. With skin botox, you may notice changes in sebum and skin texture after one session, but the effect fades after 1 to 2 months on average. Skin boosters need time for the dermis to change, so they are done 3 or more times at intervals while we monitor the changes.
Q. Can I get skin Botox and a skin booster on the same day?
A. If you have both sebum and elasticity issues, they are sometimes injected separately on the same day. The injection depth and order are decided based on skin thickness and pore type, and since swelling and injection marks may overlap, we also check whether you have any important events coming up.
Q. What is a pore 'new skin' booster?
A. It is a common term for injections that support collagen production to help fill in indented pores and scar areas. Ingredients like those in Juvelook, which break down gradually and stimulate collagen production, fall into this category, and treatment is done several times at 4-week intervals.
Q. Can I get pore injections and pore laser treatment together?
A. We sometimes plan them together, addressing the pore openings with laser or needle radiofrequency and supporting the dermis with skin boosters. Whether to have them on the same day or in separate weeks is decided together during consultation based on your skin's response and your schedule.
Q. How can I find out the cost of pore injections?
A. The cost depends on the type of pore injection, the volume, and the number of sessions. We provide the details after deciding during consultation which of skin botox and skin boosters you will receive and how many times, and you can also check the options for each item on the treatment information page.
