ONDA Lifting: what is it, and how does it proceed?
ONDA Lifting is a lifting treatment that delivers heat to the dermis and subcutaneous fat layer using 2.45GHz microwaves, while a cooling system in the handpiece cools the skin surface.
Energy is delivered by moving the handpiece over the skin, without needles or incisions. It can be performed without anesthesia, and you can return to daily activities right after treatment. On the day, the treatment goes through four steps: consultation and diagnosis, cleansing and pre-treatment, the procedure, and soothing.
Core principles of ONDA
- Microwave heating: The device is made by DEKA of Italy, and the manufacturer has named this 2.45GHz microwave energy Coolwaves. According to the manufacturer, this energy mainly targets subcutaneous fat tissue and also acts on collagen fibers in the dermis.
- Surface cooling: A contact cooling system built into the handpiece cools the skin surface, easing the heat load on the outer layer while heat is generated deeper within.
- Depth-specific handpieces: Separate handpieces are used to target the dermis and the subcutaneous fat layer. Both may be used on the same face.
- kJ unit: The amount is expressed in kilojoules (kJ), not number of shots. Even for the same area, the amount delivered varies with skin thickness and fat volume.

Where the cheeks are already hollow, energy targeting the fat layer may reduce volume further, so these areas are assessed separately.
Procedure order on the day of treatment
- Consultation and assessment: We assess skin thickness, fat distribution, and the degree of sagging to determine the intensity of energy delivery.
- Cleansing and preparation: After removing makeup and oil, a dedicated gliding oil is applied so that energy is delivered evenly.
- Handpiece selection and treatment: Depending on the area of concern, 3mm and 7mm handpieces are selected and moved across the skin during treatment.
- Aftercare and soothing: Remaining oil is cleaned off, followed by moisturizing and soothing care, and the treatment is finished with sunscreen.
Even if you arrive wearing makeup, it will be removed during the cleansing step before we begin. During treatment you may feel warmth deep within the skin, and its intensity varies by area and skin thickness.

Aftercare and Precautions
- Redness, warmth, and mild swelling mostly subside over time.
- Please contact us right away if redness and swelling worsen day by day, blisters form, or warmth and pain persist.
- Please let us know before treatment if you are pregnant, have an implanted electronic medical device such as a pacemaker, or have inflammation or wounds in the treatment area.

A. You can return to daily activities immediately after treatment. Redness, warmth, or mild swelling may linger briefly, so please let us know in advance if you have an important engagement.
Q. Can I have it on my body as well as my face?
A. Body ONDA treats one area of the body. It is available in small area 40kJ and 1 area 80kJ options, and the energy amounts and options are separate from those for the face.
