Juvelook Volume for nasolabial folds in Suwon: how is it different from filler, and when do results show?

If the groove running from beside your nose down to the corners of your mouth looks deep even when you are not smiling, it is worth first checking whether only the groove is hollow or the surrounding area is hollow as well. Juvelook Volume is an injectable made of PDLLA (poly-D,L-lactic acid) particles and hyaluronic acid; its particles are slightly larger than those of Juvelook, so it is injected deep into tissue at a higher concentration to encourage the body to produce its own collagen.
Whereas hyaluronic acid filler fills hollow areas directly with gel, Juvelook Volume fills in gradually as collagen builds up over 4 to 6 weeks after treatment, so how and when volume appears are different. At our Suwon clinic, we first look in consultation at whether the hollowing is a single groove or a broad area, along with your previous treatment history and schedule, then decide the approach.
In this article, we outline in turn why nasolabial folds deepen, the differences among Juvelook Volume, filler, and Sculptra, how Juvelook Volume works and the treatment steps, post-treatment massage and care, and side effects.
Juvelook Volume for nasolabial folds: key points
- Nasolabial folds deepen as fat in the front of the cheeks decreases and descends, folding the boundary between the cheek and mouth area, and they become more pronounced as the skin thins.
- Juvelook Volume works by having PDLLA particles stimulate collagen production so the area gradually fills in over 4 to 6 weeks.
- Hyaluronic acid filler fills directly with gel and can be dissolved with hyaluronidase, so how and when volume appears are different.
- We plan at least 3 sessions at 1-month intervals as a baseline, and after treatment, massage for about 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for at least 5 days.
Why do nasolabial folds deepen?
Nasolabial folds are the grooves running from beside the nose down toward the corners of the mouth. With age, as fat in the front of the cheeks decreases and moves downward, the boundary between the cheek and the mouth area folds and the groove deepens, and as collagen in the skin decreases and the skin thins, the same fold looks more pronounced.
That is why filling only the nasolabial groove can make the mouth area look heavy. We also check whether the upper front cheek and the area below the cheekbones are hollow and whether the skin itself has thinned, and plan to extend the filling range to the surrounding area; if sagging skin covers the groove and makes it look deeper, we also consider lifting.
How is Juvelook Volume different from filler and Sculptra?
The three differ in ingredients, how volume is created, and when changes become visible.
| Category | Juvelook Volume | Hyaluronic acid filler | Sculptra |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ingredients | PDLLA particles and hyaluronic acid | Cross-linked hyaluronic acid gel | PLLA particles |
| How volume forms | Collagen made by the body builds up gradually | The injected gel fills the space directly | Collagen made by the body builds up gradually |
| When changes appear | Gradually over 4 to 6 weeks | Visible once swelling subsides | Gradually over several weeks |
| Whether it dissolves with hyaluronidase | The collagen-stimulating component does not dissolve | Can be dissolved | Does not dissolve |
Juvelook Volume and Sculptra are both polylactic acid-based ingredients that stimulate collagen production, so they share the approach of being injected over several sessions and massaged after treatment to help the particles spread evenly. We plan to choose one or divide them based on the area of hollowing, skin thickness, and previous treatment history.

How Juvelook Volume works for nasolabial folds and the treatment steps
How collagen fills in and the injection range
The hyaluronic acid contained in Juvelook Volume gives a brief sense of volume right after treatment and is then absorbed, and the change after that comes from collagen stimulated by the PDLLA particles. So rather than judging by how it looks right after treatment, we look at the change over several months after the sessions are complete, and sometimes plan by dividing roles: shaping deep grooves with filler and filling the broad surrounding area with Juvelook Volume.
For broad, rounded hollow areas like the forehead, it is sometimes spread widely so that collagen builds up evenly, and because blood vessels run through the area, the injection depth and direction are decided carefully. For thin-skinned areas such as neck lines, products spread in shallow layers with smaller particles, such as Juvelook Skin, are considered first.
Treatment steps at our Suwon clinic

Numbing cream is applied for 20 to 40 minutes, the procedure takes about 15 to 30 minutes, and you can return to daily life right away. There are packages of 1 vial of Juvelook Volume for 1 or 3 sessions, and a package that divides treatment into 1 session of Sculptra and 2 sessions of Juvelook Volume, and we plan at least 3 sessions at 1-month intervals as a baseline. If filler remains in the nasolabial folds, we first check the remaining amount and its location, then decide the range for each session.

Massage and care after Juvelook Volume
- You may wash your face and wear makeup starting 2 to 3 hours after the procedure, and remove the DuoDERM patches on the injection sites after 3 days.
- To help prevent clumping, gently massage for about 5 minutes at a time, 5 times a day, for at least 5 days after the procedure.
- For 3 to 7 days after treatment, avoid heavy drinking, smoking, saunas and Korean bathhouses, hot baths, and strenuous exercise.
- For two to three weeks, avoid pressure from hats or glasses, sleeping face down or on your side, facial meridian massage, dental treatment, and ultrasound and radiofrequency procedures.
Using facial muscles or applying external pressure after treatment can change the shape, so it is important not to press on the treated area for 2 to 3 weeks. Collagen changes appear gradually as sessions accumulate, so at each session we check how much the area filled in after the previous one and adjust the next range.
Side effects and precautions of Juvelook Volume
As it is an injection, bruising, swelling, pain, and a foreign-body sensation may occur, mostly subsiding within 1 to 2 weeks, and the temporary swelling that comes with the nature of the procedure also subsides within a few days. A clumpy feeling may occur after treatment, so we provide massage instructions, and the degree of reaction varies from person to person.
In rare cases, particles may gather in one place and form nodules or granulomas, and nerve damage, allergic reactions, and inflammation may also rarely occur. Blocking a blood vessel can cause skin necrosis, and blockage of vessels around the eyes, such as between the eyebrows, carries a risk of vision loss, so we decide the injection depth and direction carefully. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have inflammation in the treatment area, have an autoimmune disease, or are taking immune-modulating medication, please let us know before the procedure.
If pain keeps getting worse, the skin turns white or purplish, a hard, red, swollen lump forms, or your vision becomes blurry, please contact the clinic right away.
What is checked before Juvelook Volume?
If these apply to you, start with an assessment of how far the hollowing extends
- Your nasolabial grooves look deep even when you are not smiling.
- The front of your cheeks and the area below your cheekbones both look hollow.
- Your skin has thinned and fine lines have increased as well.
- Filler injected into your nasolabial folds may still remain.
If two or more apply, it is best to first check whether the hollowing is a single groove or a broad area, and whether any filler remains. Whether to proceed, and the method and extent of treatment, are decided together in consultation after the medical team's examination.
In short, the key with Juvelook Volume for nasolabial folds is first checking the extent of hollowing and any remaining filler, then dividing treatment into sessions and watching collagen changes over several weeks.
FAQ
Q. When does the effect of Juvelook Volume become visible?
A. The sense of volume right after treatment decreases as the hyaluronic acid injected with it is absorbed, and collagen changes appear gradually over 4 to 6 weeks after treatment. Changes are checked as sessions accumulate, and the timing and degree vary from person to person.
Q. How many sessions of Juvelook Volume do I need?
A. How long results last varies with the treatment area and individual differences, so we plan at least 3 sessions at 1-month intervals as a baseline. At each session, we look at how much the area filled in after the previous one and your skin condition, and adjust the range and amount to inject.
Q. Can I get Juvelook Volume and nasolabial filler together?
A. We sometimes plan by dividing roles, shaping deep grooves with filler and filling the broad surrounding area with Juvelook Volume. If collagen builds on top of remaining filler, the area may become fuller than expected, so the order and interval are decided in consultation.
Q. Why do I need to massage after Juvelook Volume?
A. A clumpy feeling or clumping may occur after treatment, so massage helps the particles spread evenly. For at least 5 days after the procedure, gently massage the treated area with your fingertips about 5 minutes at a time, 5 times a day.
Q. Can Juvelook Volume also fill the forehead?
A. For a broad, rounded hollow forehead, it is sometimes spread widely so that collagen builds up evenly. Because blood vessels run through the forehead, the injection depth, direction, and range are decided carefully after examination, and sessions are divided if needed.
Q. How can I find out the cost of Juvelook Volume?
A. The cost depends on the number of vials and sessions. We explain it after confirming in consultation whether to treat only the nasolabial folds or extend to the front of the cheeks and below the cheekbones, and how many sessions to do, and you can also check it on the treatment information page.
