Juveacell ECM Skin Booster: How Is It Different from REJURAN?

Juveacell ECM Skin Booster: How Is It Different from REJURAN?

Juveacell is an injection that replenishes the dermis with extracellular matrix (ECM), a structural component of the skin, while REJURAN is an injection that uses PN derived from salmon to help support an environment in which the skin recovers.

Both are skin boosters injected into the dermal layer, but they differ in ingredients, how they work, and care schedule. Rather than going by name, looking at what each does inside the skin makes it easier to gauge which is closer to your current concern.

Skin boosters classified by how they work

Skin boosters can be broadly grouped into three categories, and Juveacell belongs to the third.

The core principle of Juveacell

ECM is the structure outside the skin cells that supports the shape of the tissue. Juveacell uses human dermis containing this ECM as its raw material and is made through three steps.

  1. Removing cellular components: It undergoes a decellularization process at low temperature using supercritical carbon dioxide (CO₂) as a solvent. Cellular components that could trigger an immune response are removed at this stage.
  2. Preserving ECM: While the cells are removed, components such as collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid are retained. The structure that supports the skin is carried over intact into the raw material.
  3. Micronization and injection: The remaining acellular allogeneic dermis is finely processed so that it can be injected. It is hand-injected with a fine needle and distributed evenly into the dermal layer.

It comes in 3% and 8% formulations depending on the acellular allogeneic dermis content, and the 3% is used to refine skin texture and overall skin condition. It is a product launched by VAIM Global, known for Juvelook, together with the human tissue company DOF.

Treatments to consider first by skin concern

1. Skin where texture, tone, fine lines, and pores are the top priority

  • Recommended product: Juveacell 3%
  • Recommended interval: every 3–4 weeks
  • Recommended sessions: Several, adjusted according to your skin's response
  • Characteristics: Suited to those who prefer gradual care of the skin's structure over volume that appears immediately. About 2–3 weeks after injection, the ingredients blend with the surrounding tissue, and you may notice changes in skin texture and condition.

2. Skin that feels loose due to reduced elasticity

  • Recommended product: Rejuran Healer 2cc
  • Recommended interval: every 3–4 weeks
  • Recommended sessions: 3, followed by maintenance depending on skin condition
  • Characteristics: Considered when regenerative care for the entire face is desired.

3. When injection pain is a concern

  • Recommended product: REJURAN HB+
  • Recommended interval: every 2–3 weeks
  • Recommended sessions: at least 3
  • Characteristics: A product that combines PN with hyaluronic acid and lidocaine, an anesthetic ingredient.

Day of Juveacell treatment (the most important 24 hours)

  • Even if the injected areas are raised, do not rub or press them.
  • Apply moisturizer generously and begin sun protection.

What to avoid during recovery

  • Strenuous exercise can worsen swelling and bruising, so rest from it for a few days.
  • Postpone drinking and smoking for a certain period.
  • Avoid places that raise body heat, such as saunas, jjimjilbang (Korean spas), and hot baths, for the time being.
  • Avoid scrubs, peels, and vigorous massage for a certain period.

Ongoing care

  • Continue sun protection and moisturizing until your next session. The timing of the next session is chosen based on your skin's response.
  • Please contact us right away if swelling and redness worsen day by day, if warmth and pain increase, or if your skin color changes from usual.
  • Please let us know before treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if there is inflammation or infection in the treatment area. If you have previously received fillers or skin boosters, or have any allergies, please tell us about those as well.
