Youthful skin care: texture, inner glow, or shadows—where to start?

Start with whichever has weakened the most right now: skin texture, inner glow, or shadows.
A youthful look depends less on the number of wrinkles than on how evenly the skin reflects light and where shadows fall on the face. Rough texture scatters light and makes skin look dull, while volume loss or sagging creates shadows under the eyes, along the nasolabial folds, and on the jawline. Dividing the face into outer skin, inner skin, and facial structure makes it easier to decide what to address first.
What creates light and shadow on the face
- Skin texture: When texture is even, light reflects evenly. When dead skin flakes or pores look enlarged, light scatters and the skin looks darker than it actually is.
- Inner glow: When the skin is full of moisture and elasticity, the surface smooths out and gives off a soft, subtle radiance.
- Shadows: When volume decreases or tissue sags downward, shadows form under the eyes, along the nasolabial folds, around the mouth, and on the jawline. These are areas that surface care alone rarely changes much.
- UV rays: UV rays are known to weaken the elastic fibers within the skin, accelerating sagging and shadows. Whichever level you are addressing, sun protection is the foundation.
Youthful skin care in three levels
| Step | Visible signs | Related treatments | Treatment method |
|---|---|---|---|
| Outer skin | Rough texture, lifted dead skin, pores that look wide, makeup that does not sit well | Aqua Peel, Lala Peel, Skin Botox | Clears away impurities and dead skin with a solution, or delivers medication in small amounts into the thin layers of the skin |
| Inner skin | Lack of moisture, loss of firmness, fine lines | Juvelook, Rejuran Healer, Re2O | Active ingredients are injected into the dermis |
| Facial structure | Shadows and sagging under the eyes, along the nasolabial folds, around the mouth, and along the jawline | Ulthera, Thermage FLX | Delivering ultrasound or radiofrequency energy to deep skin layers |
These three stages often overlap. If your skin texture is rough and your jawline has also grown heavier, we address both stages together, but we space them out with recovery time and skin reactions in mind.
Care Guide by Stage
1. Rough-textured skin where makeup doesn't sit smoothly
- Recommended care: Aqua Peel, Lala peel
- Recommended interval: Aqua Peel every 1 to 2 weeks
- Characteristics: Aqua Peel uses a 3-step solution to clear impurities from within the pores while replenishing moisture, and Lala peel is a peel that dissolves dead skin cells rather than forcibly stripping them away. Frequent harsh peels or scrubs can weaken the skin barrier and may instead leave skin drier and duller.
2. Dull skin that has lost its firmness
- Recommended product: Juvelook 1vial
- Recommended interval: every 4 weeks
- Recommended number of sessions: at least 3
- Characteristics: Hyaluronic acid adds hydration, while PDLLA (poly-D,L-lactic acid) breaks down gradually and stimulates the formation of new collagen-like tissue. Changes typically begin to appear within 2 to 3 weeks on average and become gradually more evident with each session.
3. Faces with shadows under the eyes and along the jawline
- Recommended devices: Ulthera, Thermage FLX
- Recommended interval: Ulthera typically every 6 months to 1 year; Thermage FLX about once a year for maintenance
- Characteristics: Ulthera focuses ultrasound energy on the fascial (SMAS) layer while verifying depth with real-time imaging, and Thermage FLX delivers radiofrequency deep into the dermis to promote collagen contraction and regeneration. We choose the device based on skin thickness, the direction of sagging, and how much time you can set aside for recovery.
For areas that have lost volume, such as the nasolabial folds, we separately assess whether lifting or a skin booster should come first.

Basics to Follow at Home
- Apply sunscreen every morning, even when indoors or on cloudy days.
- In the evening, wash with a gentle cleanser and apply moisturizer while your skin is still slightly damp.
- If your skin feels rough, don't increase scrubbing and exfoliation; reduce how often you do them first.
- Introduce new skincare products one at a time, and if you feel stinging or notice redness, cut back on steps.
Post-Treatment Precautions
- On the day of treatment: Bruising, swelling, small raised bumps, or redness may appear at skin booster injection sites and subside over time. After lifting device treatments, you may experience throbbing and slight swelling for a few days.
- First week: After Juvelook, avoid saunas, jjimjilbang (Korean bathhouses), and strenuous exercise, and refrain from excessive drinking and smoking. After Aqua Peel, also avoid high-heat exposure such as saunas.
- After that: Never skip moisturizing and sun protection.
Before treatment, please let us know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have any inflammation or wounds in the treatment area, or are taking any medications or have allergies. If you have an implanted electronic device such as a pacemaker, please mention it during your consultation for radiofrequency treatments.
