Hyperhidrosis Botox

What is this treatment?

This treatment blocks the release of acetylcholine — the neurotransmitter that signals sweat glands — in areas of excessive sweating, temporarily reducing gland activity. Botox is injected into the areas of concern to reduce sweat production and help keep the skin dry and fresh.

Q&A

Q.

Which areas can be treated?

Besides the underarms, where there is a lot of sweat and unpleasant odor, the procedure is available for various areas of concern with heavy sweating, such as the palms and the soles of the feet.

Q.

What is the usual dosage?

It differs depending on the area and on how much you sweat, but in most cases about 100 to 200 units (U) are used per area.

Q.

I have an important event coming up. When should I schedule the procedure?

The effect begins to appear from about two to three days after the treatment and on average reaches its peak within one to two weeks, so if you visit and receive the treatment five to seven days before an important occasion, you can go into it in good condition.

What should I keep in mind?

warning

Please read the precautions carefully and follow them closely.

-

For 3–7 days after the treatment, please avoid heavy drinking, smoking, saunas and steam rooms, hot baths, and strenuous exercise to prevent inflammation.

-

Avoid rubbing or irritating the treated area (please avoid deep massages or meridian massage for one month).

-

Small raised bumps from the Botox solution subside within 2–3 hours, though they may last 1–2 days depending on your skin condition.

-

As an injectable treatment, mild bruising and swelling may occur depending on your skin condition, but these subside quickly.

-

This treatment temporarily blocks the sweat glands to help reduce perspiration; it does not permanently suppress sweating.

-

In rare cases after palm hyperhidrosis treatment, grip strength may slightly decrease. This is temporary and no cause for concern, but please keep it in mind if your work requires detailed manual tasks.
