Botox for men: what is assessed differently for faces with thick muscles?

In Botox for men, muscles are often thicker and stronger even in the same area, so the dose and injection points are set separately, and the design is based on results that suit a masculine look, such as the eyebrow shape. Beyond forehead, glabellar, and crow's feet wrinkles, areas men frequently ask about, such as the square jaw, trapezius, and hyperhidrosis, are also planned based on muscle size and lifestyle habits.

Why does the dose differ in Botox for men?

Botox is a medication that temporarily blocks nerve signals to muscles to reduce muscle movement. Men tend to have thicker, stronger muscles in the forehead, between the brows, and in the jaw, so with the same dose they may feel that movement decreases less or returns sooner.

That does not mean we simply increase the amount. Injecting too much into the forehead can make the eyebrows drop, making the upper eyelids look heavy and the expression look stiff.

Areas and design assessed separately in Botox for men

  • Men's eyebrows tend to be straighter and lower, so forehead Botox is placed avoiding the area just above the eyebrows to keep them from drooping.
  • The glabellar muscles are deep and thick, so injection depth and the number of points are matched to muscle size.
  • For the square jaw, the dose for each side is sometimes set separately based on teeth-clenching habits and muscle thickness.
  • For underarm or palm hyperhidrosis, we check the sweating area and then distribute the injections evenly in the shallow layer of the skin.

At our Suwon clinic, wrinkle Botox is performed in about 10 minutes after numbing cream, and to maintain the change, we recommend repeating it every 3 to 4 months.

Precautions after Botox for men

You can wash your face and wear makeup from 2 to 3 hours later, and for 3 to 7 days, avoid heavy drinking, smoking, saunas, jjimjilbang, and strenuous exercise. Even if you usually exercise a lot, it is best to lower the intensity for the first few days. Avoid rubbing the injection sites hard or getting strong massages for about a month.

Bumps caused by the medication subside within 2 to 3 hours, and bruising and swelling are usually mild. If your eyelids droop, your eyebrow height changes noticeably, or you feel discomfort when speaking or swallowing, contact the clinic right away. If you have a muscle disorder or are taking any medications, you must let us know before treatment.

FAQ

Q. Does Botox wear off faster in men?

A. People with thick muscles who use strong facial expressions may feel that movement returns sooner. Muscle size and expression habits have a greater influence than gender, so the next dose and interval are set based on how long the previous treatment lasted.

Q. Will my eyebrows droop if I get forehead Botox as a man?

A. The forehead muscle also lifts the eyebrows, so injecting a lot near the eyebrows can cause them to drop. Men tend to have low, straight eyebrows, so we avoid a certain height above the eyebrows and distribute the amount according to the size of the forehead muscle.

Q. Does Botox wear off faster in men who exercise a lot?

A. Strenuous exercise does not immediately cancel the effect, but for the first few days after treatment, increased blood flow can make swelling and bruising worse, so it should be avoided. The relationship between exercise and duration varies greatly between individuals, so the interval is set based on how long the previous treatment lasted.
