Double Chin Care: How Do FaceFit (GPC) Injections and ONDA Differ?

FaceFit (GPC) is an injection that delivers the product directly into the fat layer under the chin, while ONDA is a lifting device that delivers microwave energy from outside the skin to address both the fat layer and the dermis.
Both address the area under the chin, but they work at different layers and target different concerns. A double chin can result from excess fat under the chin or from loosened skin. When fat is the main factor, we first consider the injection; when fat and sagging occur together, we first consider ONDA.
Three Causes of a Double Chin
- Submental fat: Even after losing weight, fat in the lower face can remain, making the jawline look less defined.
- Skin sagging: As the skin under the chin loosens, folds can appear even without much fat.
- Enlarged salivary glands: An enlarged submandibular gland can make the chin look fuller, so it is assessed separately from fat.

How FaceFit (GPC) Injections Work
- Blended formula: Several agents used for fat reduction are blended and injected into the fat layer of the designed area. The formula contains no steroids.
- Gradual changes: It promotes fat breakdown over 2~3 weeks after treatment. Injections are given across multiple sessions while monitoring the reduction in fat volume.
How ONDA Works
- Microwave energy: 2.45GHz microwaves are delivered from outside the skin to generate heat in the dermis and subcutaneous fat layer. The handpiece's cooling system lowers the skin surface temperature, allowing treatment without anesthesia.
- 7mm handpiece: Targets the subcutaneous fat layer. Used to break down fat cells and refine contours.
- 3mm handpiece: Targets the dermis. Used to support collagen regeneration and improve elasticity.
FaceFit (GPC) Injections vs. ONDA
| Category | FaceFit (GPC) Injection | ONDA |
|---|---|---|
| Sensation | Product injected into the fat layer with a needle | Heat delivered over the skin with a cooled handpiece |
| Anesthesia | No anesthesia step in the treatment steps | Can be performed without anesthesia |
| Layer treated | Subcutaneous fat layer | Subcutaneous fat layer (7mm), dermis (3mm) |
| Treatment time and daily activities | About 10 minutes or less; daily activities can be resumed immediately | Return to daily life immediately after the treatment |
| Post-treatment reactions | Bruising, swelling, pain, and a foreign-body sensation mostly subside within 1 to 2 weeks | Skin exposed to heat may become temporarily dry |
| Aftercare | Gently massage 3 times a day, 3 minutes each, for at least 3 days | Wash gently with lukewarm water; moisturize and use sun protection |

Recommended Treatments and Intervals by Cause
1. Double chin with thick submental fat
- Recommended product: FaceFit (GPC) injection
- Recommended interval: every 1 to 2 weeks
- Recommended number of sessions: 3 or more
- Characteristics: Targets only the fat layer when skin elasticity is relatively well preserved.
2. Double chin with both fat and sagging
- Recommended device: ONDA 20KJ (double chin, jawline)
- Characteristics: The 7mm and 3mm handpieces address both the fat layer and the dermis. Even in cases where the skin may look loose after fat reduction, dermal elasticity is addressed at the same time.
3. When fat is thick and there is also sagging
- Recommended option: ONDA 20KJ plus 1 session of Face Fit (GPC) injection
- Characteristics: This option combines two treatments. Whether to have them on the same day or in separate sessions is decided based on the amount of fat and skin thickness.
4. When the submandibular glands appear enlarged
- Recommended product: Salivary gland Botox
- Recommended interval: every 4~5 months
- Characteristics: This is not a fat-reducing treatment; it reduces the size of enlarged salivary glands.
